Pittulongu, Olbia's coast a short drive from the city
Pittulongu is Olbia's town beach: 600 metres of white sand, crystal-clear waters, views over the island of Tavolara and all the comforts of a city just 10 minutes away. It is a practical base for travellers who want the sea close by without staying in the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Accommodation availability varies by date and season; the booking engine shows live options in the Olbia area.
The area includes sea-view apartments, detached homes and villas on the hills above the gulf. Check the exact address before booking: “Pittulongu” can refer to different stretches of coastline, with very different walking distances and beach access.
The Pittulongu beach (La Playa)
The beach, also known as La Playa, is about 600 metres long and faces south-east. The sand is white and very fine, the seabeds shallow and gently sloping, and the sea is typically calm and clear: perfect conditions for children and less confident swimmers. The beach is partly free and partly fitted with lidos offering sun loungers, parasols and sailing and SUP schools. Several restaurants and bars on the seafront serve seafood, pizza and informal lunches. The view is dominated by the spectacular silhouette of the island of Tavolara, a protected marine reserve.
The shoreline is divided into stretches with different names and different characters, and parking here is free, which is rare in Sardinia. How to get there by bus from central Olbia, which stretch to choose and what changes between Pittulongu, Bados and Lo Squalo is all in our guide to Pittulongu beach.

Getting there and why choose Pittulongu
Olbia-Costa Smeralda airport (OLB) is just 10 minutes' drive away: ideal for evening arrivals and early-morning departures with no stress. The port of Olbia is 15 minutes away. Pittulongu is the perfect base for: (1) anyone who wants the sea but also city amenities (supermarkets, restaurants, a hospital), (2) anyone who wants to be less than half an hour from the Costa Smeralda while spending less, (3) couples seeking a holiday home with a view of Tavolara for a romantic escape away from the bustle of Porto Cervo, (4) families looking for a serviced, shallow-water beach, (5) anyone who wants to wake up to a view of the sea.
Pittulongu is one of the few Gallura beaches you can reach by bus: how to do it, line by line, is in the guide on Olbia airport to the beaches.
How to choose a stay in Pittulongu
Check availability, location and services in the booking engine. Listings change over time: this page describes the destination, and Propertize does not currently list Pittulongu as a location with managed properties.
Here the point is not the house, it is what surrounds it: free parking, a city bus, and shallow water. With small children that means a day at the sea does not start with a fight over a parking space.
Two details make a real difference to your stay: the actual walking time to the water and whether there is shade outside in the afternoon. In August, the latter changes how the home can be used. Then check self check-in, parking, air conditioning and equipment on the individual listing; these are not uniform features of every property in the area.
For owners, Pittulongu is a served area where we have local knowledge, but we do not currently claim managed properties. The free valuation for the Olbia area establishes whether we can take on the individual home to our operating standards.
