The Sardinia made for families with children

Sardinia is one of Italy's most loved destinations for families. Crystal-clear waters, beaches with gentle shallow shelves, welcoming homes and unspoilt nature make it perfect for holidays with children of every age. Propertize hand-picks homes designed around family life: fenced gardens, private pools, well-equipped kitchens and strategic locations close to the safest beaches.

Houses with a fenced garden: space and peace of mind

Our detached houses in Villasimius, Cagliari and the surrounding area come with a fenced garden where children can play in complete freedom, far from traffic and entirely safe. The garden becomes a natural extension of the home: a barbecue for evening grills, an outdoor dining area beneath the pergola, lawn and fragrant Mediterranean planting. It is more than physical safety: it is a space where children explore, run and play without parents having to keep a constant watch. Our family-friendly houses can also include a high chair, a travel cot and equipment designed for the little ones, on request when you book.

Sardinia's safest beaches for children

Campus and Campulongu in Villasimius are among the beaches families love most: shallow water for tens of metres, calm and clear seas, the finest sand and beach-club services in high season. Poetto in Cagliari is the great city beach: lifeguarded, easy to reach, with parking, kiosks and full facilities, ideal for a day by the sea without too much planning. Pittulongu in Olbia offers calm water in a naturally sheltered bay, just 10 minutes from the airport, perfect for those arriving late who want to be by the sea straight away. Golfo Aranci, north of Olbia, has water of extraordinary clarity with a gradual shelf and little swell, a classic for families in northern Sardinia.

What to pack and how to plan a holiday with children

A hire car is essential for exploring the most beautiful beaches and reaching the supermarkets, especially with young children. Book in advance to secure the best prices and be sure to request a child seat. For babies and children up to three, get in touch before booking: we arrange the delivery of a travel cot, high chair and baby bath. The afternoon, when the heat is at its strongest (2 pm–5 pm), is the ideal moment to rest or to explore Cagliari's old town, the fortress at Villasimius or stop for an ice cream in the village. Bring high-protection sun cream, sun hats and a light first-aid kit. For the wilder beaches, water shoes and armbands for younger children are very useful.

Our family-friendly destinations

Villasimius is our flagship destination for families with young children: safe beaches, a quiet village, welcoming restaurants and a genuine atmosphere. Ideal for children aged 0 to 8. Cagliari offers the perfect blend of city and sea: museums, historic markets, the baroque district of Castello and the Poetto just minutes away, perfect for families with older, curious children eager to explore. Olbia and Pittulongu are the most convenient choice logistically: from the airport to the house in 10 minutes, the sea a five-minute walk away, supermarkets and services within easy reach.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best destination in Sardinia for families with young children?

Villasimius is our first choice for families with young children: the beaches of Campus and Campulongu have shallow water and calm seas. Pittulongu (Olbia) is also excellent for its logistical convenience (10 minutes from the airport).

Do the homes have high chairs and cots for children?

Yes, many of our family-friendly properties are equipped with a high chair, a travel cot and other accessories for babies and toddlers. Just let us know when you book and our team will arrange everything.

Do you accept pets?

Yes, many homes in our portfolio are pet friendly. Let us know if you are travelling with animals at the time of booking.

When is the best time to visit Sardinia with children?

June and September are the ideal months: the sea is already warm, the beaches are less crowded than in August and prices are more affordable. August is lively but the beaches are very busy, so booking at least 3–4 months in advance is essential.
