Live Cagliari like a local
Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia: an authentic Mediterranean city built across seven hills overlooking the gulf, with its historic centre up on the heights, the urban beach of Poetto a bike ride away and some of the most refined seafood cuisine on the island. Propertize curates holiday homes, apartments and villas in Cagliari and its hinterland: in the historic centre for those who want atmosphere and restaurants, at Poetto for those who want sea and relaxation, and in the residential districts for longer and business stays.
Our portfolio in Cagliari includes holiday apartments in the historic centre (Marina, Castello, Stampace), beachfront houses at Poetto with views of the Sella del Diavolo headland and villas with pools in Quartu Sant'Elena. They suit every kind of traveller: couples looking for a romantic escape in homes with views over the gulf, families with children, groups of friends and business travellers. Every property is prepared by our team to hotel standards: a fully equipped kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, quality linen, a welcome kit with Sardinian products, dedicated check-in and 24/7 assistance.
The neighbourhoods of Cagliari: where to stay
Marina is the port neighbourhood: narrow lanes, seafood restaurants on every corner and lively evenings. Ideal for those who want to enjoy the city without a car. Castello is the ancient heart, perched up high: panoramic views over the whole gulf, bastions, museums and a hushed atmosphere in the evening. Stampace and Villanova are the most authentic historic quarters, full of trattorias and small artisans. Sant'Elia and Bonaria face the sea, close to the marina and Calamosca beach. Poetto is the long urban beach of white sand, loved by locals and visitors alike, with kiosks, restaurants and kitesurfing schools. Quartu Sant'Elena, on the edge of the city, offers houses with gardens just minutes from the beaches of Margine Rosso, Mari Pintau and Geremeas.

What to do in Cagliari
Cagliari deserves at least three days. Climb up to Castello to see the Elephant Tower, the Tower of San Pancrazio and the cathedral of Santa Maria; stroll along the Saint Remy bastions for one of the finest views in the Mediterranean. At the National Archaeological Museum you will find the famous nuragic bronzes and the Giants of Mont'e Prama. Head down to the old port for Marina: aperitivo in Piazza Yenne and dinner in a trattoria. The San Benedetto market, one of the largest in Europe, is a must for food lovers. Spend an afternoon at Poetto to swim and eat fried fish at a kiosk. For nature: the Sella del Diavolo (an easy 1-hour walk), the Molentargius park with its pink flamingos and the Santa Gilla lagoon. For evening culture: concerts at the Teatro Lirico and summer festivals up in Castello.
The beaches of Cagliari and the surrounding area
Poetto, with its 8 km of brilliant white sand, is the longest urban beach in Europe: well-equipped kiosks, sailing schools, runners at sunset and a young, vibrant atmosphere. A 15-minute drive east: Calamosca (small and sheltered, behind the headland), Cala Fighera (wild, reached on foot), Margine Rosso and Mari Pintau (Quartu). 30–45 minutes away: Geremeas, Solanas, Cala Regina and Torre delle Stelle. An hour away: Villasimius and Costa Rei, home to the most iconic coves of south-east Sardinia.
The flavours of Cagliari
In Cagliari you eat the sea. Spaghetti with bottarga, fregula with clams, sa burrida (dogfish in a walnut sauce), Cagliari-style octopus, and sea urchins at Giorgino in season. The desserts: pardulas with ricotta, sebadas with honey, almond candelaus. The wines: Sardinian Vermentino, Cannonau and Nasco di Cagliari (an indigenous grape). To our guests we recommend the places we genuinely frequent ourselves: from the historic spots in Marina to the trattorias of Villanova, from the fish market to the kiosk on Poetto for a quick lunch.
Getting there and when to go
Cagliari-Elmas Airport (CAG) is 7 km from the centre: 15 minutes by car, 8 minutes by direct train to the central station. Direct flights from almost all of Italy and Europe. The port of Cagliari receives ferries from Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo and Trapani. The climate is mild all year round: swimming at Poetto from May to October, cultural city breaks between October and April. The best months for the balance of climate and crowds are May, June and September.
Cosy, smart apartments with 24h self check-in
